EARL HAYNES SR.

Earl Haynes Sr. died Sunday, July 13, 1997, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del.

Born in Norfolk, his late parents were John and Edna Haynes. His late wife, Dellaphine Purnell Haynes, died July 3, 1991.

A World War II Army veteran, Haynes spent more than 50 years in Mount Vernon, N.Y., where he was employed as a truck driver for Allied Van Lines until his retirement in 1979.

He moved to Millsboro in 1991 and made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Symer Rainey. He attended Dickerson Chapel AME Church, Millsboro. He was a member of Duncan Showell Post No. 231, American Legion in Berlin, Md.

Besides his daughter and son-in-law, other survivors include a son, Earl Haynes Jr. of Bedford Hills, N.Y., and a daughter-in-law, Betty Haynes; two sisters, Edna Powell of Norfolk and Lillie Koo of Yonkers, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers and a sister.

A funeral will be conducted Saturday at noon in Dickerson Chapel AME Church, Millsboro. Interment will be in St. Paul/Evergreen Cemetery, Berlin, Md. Friends may call at Jolley Memorial Chapel, Franklin Ave., Berlin, Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday in the church from 11 a.m. to noon. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
