OTIS JONES

Otis Jones died July 20, 1997, in the McGuire V.A. Medical Center, Richmond.

A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Dora Jones.

Otis was an Army retiree and a Southampton County deputy sheriff retiree. He was a member of the Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, where he served on the board of trustees and the senior usher board. Otis was a very active leader of the Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include three sisters, Martha Nicholson of Richmond, Ella Johnson of Drewryville and Virginia Francis of Emporia; and a brother, Elbert Jones of Drewryville.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pleasant Plain Baptist Church, Drewryville, by the Rev. Louis Collins, eulogist, and the Rev. Raymond Pyant officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.

A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Pearson-Bond Funeral Service. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
