JAMES E. RUSSELL

James E. ``Buster'' Russell, 66, died July 24, 1997.

He was born in Raleigh, N.C., the son of the late Monroe and Lacy Russell. He was a member of Fairview Heights Baptist Church and the Russell Bible Class and the Cradock Lions Club. He was also a volunteer at Portsmouth General Hospital. He was an Army veteran from the Korean Conflict and had retired from the Norfolk Naval Air Station after 30 years of service.

He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy R. Hawkins of Juno Beach, Fla., Mavis R. Powell of Portsmouth; a brother, Jasper C. Russell of Chesapeake; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Fairview Heights Baptist Church by the Rev. John Frady. Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will receive friends at Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Chapel, from 6 to 8 p.m. today. The family kindly asks that flowers be omitted and memorial be made to Fairview Heights Baptist Church, 4704 Deep Creek Blvd., Portsmouth, Va. 23702. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
