June Jacqueline McCoy of the 900 block of Bainbridge Blvd. died Aug. 3, 1997, in a local hospital.
She was a native of Norfolk and retired from the dietary division of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a past member of Trinity AME Church, Chesapeake, and a member of the Rose of Sharon United Holy Church, Suffolk. She was past Granddaughter Ruler Beulah Temple No. 4 I.B.P.O.E. of W., member of Annetta Tent No. 72, treasurer and honorary member of the Benevolent Chapter No. 532 O.E.S.
Survivors include her husband, Haynes M. McCoy Jr. of Norfolk; special daughters, Yvette E. Greene of Fayetteville, N.C., Vicki Starcher of Portsmouth; two sons, SFC Haynes M. McCoy III of Fort Bragg, N.C., Anthony L. ``Tony'' McCoy of Norfolk; her mother, Hallie Goodman Simon of Norfolk; three sisters, Jean Tatem of Norfolk, Carol Brickhouse of Hampton, Frances Sutton of Norfolk; five brothers, Willie Simon Jr. of Portsmouth, Arthur Simon Sr. of Virginia Beach, Anthony Simon Sr. of Norfolk, Gideon Simon of Virginia Beach, Gregory Simon of Norfolk; a grandchild, Johnnie T. McCoy of Fayetteville, N.C.; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a son, J.T. McCoy, her father, Willie Simon Sr., and her brother, Matthew ``Pete'' Simon.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Rose of Sharon United Holy Church, 2440 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk, by the Rev. Alfred S. Chandler. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. The Elk Lodge will be at Metropolitan Funeral Service, Norfolk, at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Thursday. Family and friends will assemble at 900 Bainbridge Blvd., Norfolk, at noon Thursday. Friends will assemble with the family at 909 Campostella Road, Berkley Lodge No. 12, after the interment.
