Laura Lynn Cottrell, 24, died Tuesday Aug. 5, 1997.
Born in Chesapeake, she resided there for 21 years prior to moving to the Peninsula. Laura graduated with honors from Indian River High School in 1991. In 1995, she graduated with honors from the College of William and Mary.
Survivors include her husband, Eric Cottrell; her parents, Ray Bateman Sr. and Luvinia Bateman of Newport News; her maternal grandmother, Velma D. Moore of Alabama; two sisters, Elaine Kinnunen of Seattle and Sheila Bateman of Hampton; two brothers, Joseph R. Bateman Jr. of Omaha, Neb., and Lawrence L. Bateman Sr. of Detroit, Mich.; and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Joe John and Mary Bateman and her maternal grandfather, Vernon A. Moore, who was a well-known architect in Norfolk.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
