Ellen Aginore Walke Davis of the 800 block of Anna St., died in a local hospital on Aug. 8, 1997.
She was the daughter of the late Cordelia and Dennis Walke. She was a native of Princess Anne County, graduated from Princess Anne County High School and attended the Norfolk Division of Virginia State College. She was a member of Mount Zion AME Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir for over 50 years. She also served faithfully in many other capacities throughout the years. She was secretary of the Federation of Garden Clubs and secretary of Broad Creek Shores Civic League.
Survivors include her husband, Webster Davis; a brother-in-law, Jerimiah Harold II of Virginia Beach; four sisters-in-law, Estelle Davis and Selena Robinson of Norfolk and Julia Stovel and Leona Hobbs of Baltimore, Md.; two nephews, Melvin Ridley Sr. and Jerimiah Harold III of Virginia Beach; five nieces, Mary Frances Pryor, Carolyn Flowers, Pauline Covington, Mildred Perry and Mildred Harris; many cousins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at Mount Zion AME Church, 2268 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, by the Rev. Larry S. Hinton, on Tuesday at noon. Riddick Funeral Service is in charge. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Norfolk. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. The procession will assemble at the residence and leave at 10:15 a.m. for the church.
