PORTSMOUTH

Second slaying

in one week racks city neighborhood

A man was killed early Sunday in an area where a 17-year-old boy was shot to death six days earlier.

Police were called to the area, near a parking lot at Sebago and Chocktaw drives off Victory Boulevard, about 3:30 a.m. Residents of the Norport Apartments had reported hearing shots fired. Several bullets hit an apartment building, Whittaker said, but no injuries were reported inside.

The victim was found by police in the 2500 block of Byrd Lane. His identity was being withheld until relatives could be notified.

The slaying occurred in an area between Deep Creek and George Washington Highway, just off Victory Boulevard.

It was in this same section last Tuesday that 17-year-old Jamarr Lambon, a junior at Norcom High School, was fatally shot and an 18-year-old friend was injured by gunfire.

Both shooting incidents are under investigation. NORFOLK

Police charge suspect

after Saturday's shooting

Police have arrested a 43-year-year-old Norfolk man in Saturday's fatal shooting of another man in the Lafayette Annex section of the city.

Charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony was James Fisher, who was living in the 3100 block of Saint Mihiel Avenue at the time of the incident, police said.

Fisher was taken into custody late Saturday in connection with the fatal shooting of Antonio Chapman, 29, also of the 3100 block of Saint Mihiel.

The shooting occurred about 3 p.m. following an argument between the two men, police spokesman Larry Hill said. Chapman's body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner's office for examination. KEYWORDS: MURDER SHOOTING
