PORTSMOUTH Youth being sought in slaying case turns himself in

An 18-year-old wanted in connection with the Aug. 5 death of Jamarr Lamb turned himself into the Sheriff's Office Wednesday afternoon.

Licien Lore Mitchell, whose address is unknown, was charged with murder and use of a firearm.

Lamb, 17, was shot in the Norport Apartments complex and died shortly after arriving at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

A second man was shot and wounded.

Mitchell has not been charged with the second shooting, but the investigation is continuing, said Amber Whittaker, police spokeswoman.

Lamb was one of two people killed in the Norport Apartment area in less than a week.

Jermaine Faison, 25, of the 600 block of Geneva Ave. in Chesapeake, was killed early Sunday morning.

Police believe the shooting occurred at the intersection of Sebago and Choctaw drives.

It is the same intersection where Lamb lived. His mother moved from the apartment this week after it was raked with bullets again on Sunday morning.

Four others were wounded this week in shootings at Ida Barbour and Lincoln Park public housing neighborhoods.

Police investigators are looking for two individuals in connection with a Wednesday morning robbery of the Kentucky Fried Chicken in the 2800 block of Airline Blvd.

The two robbers reportedly entered the restaurant just before 9 a.m. and demanded money and ordered employees to lie on the floor, police said.

They fled toward the area of Chowan apartments with an undisclosed amount of money.

One suspect was described as a black male, between the ages of 16 and 17, 5 feet 7 inches tall, 140 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was wearing white jogging pants, a cream-colored shirt and Nike tennis shoes, witnesses said.

The other suspect was described as a black male between the ages of 18 and 19, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 160 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was reportedly wearing green camouflage pants and hat, a dark shirt and brown boots.

Anyone with information on the robbery should call Crime Line at 488-7777. Vandals slash tires of 70 cars at dealership

Tires on 70 used cars on the lot of Merritt Auto Sales, 2230 High St., were slashed late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, causing $11,000 in damage, owner Dave Merritt said.

The cars were in a fenced-in yard protected by three guard dogs, so Merritt said he suspects the dogs were sedated. He discovered the slashed tires when he arrived at work Tuesday morning.

``Business has stopped,'' Merritt said, adding that it is the first act of vandalism on his property in a long time.

Several weeks ago, the tires of more than a dozen cars were slashed in the Port Norfolk area.

Police have no suspects in either case.
