Michael W. Gilpatrick, 43, died Friday, Aug. 22, 1997, in Norfolk.
A native of Bloomington, Ind., Mr. Gilpatrick was a music school teacher at Hunt-Mapp Middle School, Portsmouth. He was a 1972 graduate of Bloomington High School and a 1977 graduate of Indiana University receiving his bachelor's degree in Music Education. He taught band and choral music in Indiana, Illinois and Virginia, and was an organist and choir director at Broad Street United Methodist Church, Portsmouth.
He is survived by his parents, Max J. and Barbara M. Gilpatrick of Bloomington and brother, Stephen Gilpatrick of Houston.
A memorial service will be conducted at 4 p.m. today in Broad Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Kathryn Pigg. Burial will be Thursday in Bloomington. Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, is handling arrangements.
