Florence Walker Layne, 86, died Aug. 24, 1997, in Virginia Beach General Hospital.
Mrs. Layne was born in Norfolk and lived most of her life there. She graduated from Maury High School, Class of 1929. She was a former member of Talbot Park Baptist Church and most recently a member of Bayside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde S. Layne and is survived by her daughter, Alice Barrett Layne of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Arye W. Powers of Chesapeake and Alice W. Stallings of Norfolk; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk by Dr. J. Scottie Griffin. The family will receive friends at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
