THELMA E. THORNTON

Thelma Elizabeth Thornton, 81, a lifelong resident of the Ocean View area, died peacefully on Aug. 24, 1997.

She was born in Powells Point, N.C., on Aug. 30, 1915, to Maude and Tilman Payne.

Thelma is survived by her beloved, Roy Colwell; her daughter, Marjorie Ellen Batliner and her husband, Ronald Batliner Sr.; her grandson, Ronald Batliner Jr. and his wife, Diana J. Batliner; her great-grandson, William John Batliner; and her many friends at the Sixty Plus Club, the Pythians of Virginia and the Women of the Moose.

A graveside service will be held at noon Wednesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Thelma E. Thornton's name to the American Heart Association. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
