NOVELLA SUMNER

Novella ``Aunt Ret'' Sumner, 78, of the 1400 block of Canoga St., died Aug. 21, 1997, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Princess Anne County, she was an Avon representative for 17 years. She was also a member of Old St. John Church on Newtown Road.

She was predeceased by her parents, the late Mariah Sumner and the late John Sumner. Survivors include a devoted niece, Celestine Sumner of Norfolk; a stepdaughter, Beverly Harris; a stepson, James Harris; three sisters and five brothers; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at 953 North Newtown Road, Virginia Beach, by Dr. Thomas Moore. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Indian River Road. The family will be receiving family and friends at 3301 Kimball Terrace, Norfolk. Hale Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
