Thomas Earl Franks, 48, of the 2100 block of N. Ames Circle died Aug. 26, 1997.
He died as he lived - with faith, courage, dignity and with the love of his family and friends. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He was senior designer for Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Co. and a native of Suffolk.
Survivors include his wife, Paige L. Franks; mother, Florence Norfleet Lassiter of Hobbsville, N.C.; two children, Amanda P. Franks and Meredith A. Franks, both of Chesapeake; sister, Cynthia Franks Grefe of Harrisonburg, Va.; brother, James Alton Franks of Suffolk; and aunt, Conelia Norfleet Babb of Suffolk.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Loving Funeral Home, Churchland, by the Revs. Robert F. Cofield Jr. and Billy Presley, with burial in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
