Mabel Byrum Hare, 81, of the 1000 block of Old Fishery Lane died Tuesday night Aug. 26, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
Mrs. Hare was a native of Chowan County. The daughter of the late W.O. and Mrs. Corrie Dail Byrum, she was a homemaker and a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vance David Hare; son, Douglas Hare; and a granddaughter, Amber Lane.
Surviving are a daughter, Thelma Bunch of Tyner; two sons, Ronnie Hare of Gunzenhausen, Germany, and Vann Hare of Tyner; a sister, Ruth Doughtie of Suffolk; two brothers, Elbert Byrum of Portsmouth and Winfred Byrum of Gates; nine grandchildren, Melody White, Kevin Lane, Holly Bonham, Steven Hare, Kim Bennett, R. David Hare, Timmy Warrick, Jan Smith and Van Nixon; 13 great-grandchildren, Evie Bennett, Derek Bennett, Jonathon Hare, Meghan Morris, Sarah Morris, Will White, Holly Elizabeth White, Lane White, Courtney Lane, Christopher Lane, Mallory Newner, Zachary Goddard and Vanessa Nixon.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday in Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church by the Rev. John Wilkinson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, in charge. Friends may join the family at the residence. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
