Henry Lee Gay of the 200 block of Waverly Drive died Aug. 26, 1997, in a local nursing home.
Born in Hertford County, N.C., he was a retired truck driver for Camellia Food and a member of Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Gay served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Gay and Beverly Heckstall; three sons, Vernon Gay, Jimmy Lee Wells and Lloyd Wells; two sisters of Newport News; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Bank Street Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Cedrick Kirkland-Harris. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery. Graves Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
