Police responding to a report of a car accident in the 1100 block of Chapel St. near downtown instead found two people who had been shot. One of them was dead.
Few details were available late Sunday, and the names of the victims were not released.
The initial call came in at 10:24 p.m., said Larry Hill, a police spokesman.
