Howard Lee West Sr., 62, of the 4600 block of West Norfolk Road, died in Suffolk.
A native of Gloucester, Va., he was a heavy equipment operator for Howard Air Force Base, Panama Canal. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Zela West of Panama City, Panama; his mother, Thelma L. Garris of Portsmouth; two daughters, Brenda Gale Albrook of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Brenda West Rodgiquez of Panama City; four sons, Billy Lee West and Johnny West of Panama City, Howard L. West of Sanaway, Wash., and Alex West Rodgiquez of Panama City; a sister, Janie Lorraine Creech and her husband, William Ralph Creech, of Portsmouth; five grandchildren; and one uncle, John Henry West and his wife, Doris, of Gloucester, Va.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. W. Thomas Wood. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
