LAVERA W. HAYDEN

LaVera Engratia Worrell Hayden, 96, who resided at Chesapeake Healthcare Nursing Facility, died Monday, Sept. 1, 1997, in Chesapeake General Hospital.

Mrs. Hayden was born in Ventura, Calif., and was the daughter of the late Charles Raymond and Alice Ann Watts Thornton. She was also predeceased by her son, Morris Franklin Worrell Jr.; her brother, Mark Thornton and her two sisters, Jeanne T. Buell and Venona Hielman. Mrs. Hayden was a member of the Great Bridge Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Prior to moving back to Virginia, Mrs. Hayden had lived in Cape Coral, Fla. with her daughter, Della Brod, for the last 23 years where she belonged to the North Cape Coral Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Survivors include her two daughters, Della Brod and Barbara Thomason and her husband, Col. Dana L. Thomason, U.S. Army retired, and her sister, Barbara T. Wilson, all of Chesapeake; her nephew, John Thornton and his wife, Sally, of San Diego, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Brother Roy Pallette. The family will receive friends at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. Memorial donations may be made to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Great Bridge Congregation, 681 Oak Grove Road, Chesapeake, Va. 23320. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
