Sammy Jack McLane, 69, of Midway Drive, died Sept. 2, 1997, at Albemarle Hospital.
He was a native of Roanoke, Va., a member of Poplar Branch Baptist Church, and a retired supervisor with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. He was the son of Ollie Loretta Powers McLane of Barco, N.C., and the late William Rex McLane and the husband of LaRae Blake McLane of the residence.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. McLane is survived by three daughters, Lynette K. Vivas of Miami, Fla., Susan Rhea McLane of Newport Richie, Fla., and Patricia Rae Arnette of Virginia Beach; two sons, John C. McLane of Florida and Terry W. McLane of Newport Ritchie, Fla.; one brother, Bobby Ray McLane of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gwendolyn Crutchfield.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Poplar Branch Baptist Church Building Fund. Twiford's Northside Chapel is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
