Linwood Jackson ``Lin'' Hurdle, 68, of the 3400 block of Tait Terrace, formerly of Berkley, went home to be with the Lord quietly and peacefully on Thursday, Aug. 28, 1997.
Born in Nansemond County, he had retired as landscaping foreman after 42 years with Winn's Nursery Inc. He was predeceased by his wife, Vivian Taylor Hurdle and his parents, the late Octavia and Augusta Hurdle. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include four daughters, Carlethia L. Taylor, Delores Hurdle, and Carolyn Hurdle Carter, all of Norfolk, and LaVerne Hurdle of Virginia Beach; four sons, Linwood B. Taylor, Leonard L.Taylor, Walden A. Hurdle, and Carl M. Hurdle, all of Norfolk; three sisters, Sarah L. Hurdle of Chesapeake, Emily Hurdle and Charity Hurdle, both of Portsmouth; three brothers, Fred J. Hurdle and Lilburn T. Hurdle, both of Portsmouth, and Frank G. Hurdle of Suffolk; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a special friend, Barbara A. Gordon of Chesapeake; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, friends and in-laws.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Trinity AME Church, 1301 Elco St., Chesapeake, by the Rev. Linwood R. Daughtry. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. Family and friends will assemble at 2309 Arkansas Ave., Apt. B., in the Coleman Place section of Norfolk, on Thursday at noon for the funeral procession to the church. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Metropolitan Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
