Worley Thurman Smith Jr., 60, formerly of Portsmouth, died Sept. 3, 1997, at his residence at Quail Lane, Henrico, N.C.
He was a native of Bristol, Va. and retired as a nuclear refueling supervisor from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Boyd Smith; three daughters, Traci Smith of Washington, D.C., Missy Odom of Roanoke Rapids, N.C., Elizabeth Boyd Balsley of Lake Gaston, N.C.; a son, Marc Smith; his mother, Gertrude Hensley Meyer and stepfather, Julius Meyer, both of Portsmouth; a stepsister, Diann Haverstock of Roanoke Rapids; two stepbrothers, Russell Meyer of Laplata, Md., Donald Meyer of Baton Rouge, La.; an aunt, Billie Jones of Portsmouth; and uncle, Don Smith and his wife, Patsy of Portsmouth.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids, by the Rev. Robert Alves. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
