A. Ray Huffman, 68, of Oak Leaf Court, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, at his residence.
Mr. Huffman was a native of Norfolk, and was the former owner/operator of Ray's Great Bridge Amoco Station. He also was retired manager of Great Bridge Exxon Station. Mr. Huffman was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Jolliff Road, Chesapeake. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army (Old Guard) 3rd Infantry. Mr. Huffman also served as an honor guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during the Truman and Eisenhower administrations. He was the son of the late Claude C. Huffman and the late Mrs. Grace Bibb Huffman and was the husband of Mrs. Joan Knick Huffman of the home.
Besides his wife, Mr. Huffman is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Christine Stewart of Chesapeake, Miss Lois Virginia Huffman of Norfolk; two brothers, Robert L. Huffman of Norfolk, Claude Franklin Huffman of Suffolk; aunt, Mrs. Grace S. Huffman of Virginia Beach; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Faith Baptist Church by the Rev. Carlton Smith. The family suggests that memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society. Cremation Society of Virginia, Tidewater Office, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
