MARY B. HURDLE

Mrs. Mary Eliza Burke Hurdle, 99, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Born in Perquimans County, N.C., on March 24, 1898, she was the daughter of the late Martha Jane Billups and the widower of William Hurdle.

Survivors include four daughters, Iris Taggart and Dora Hurdle of Norfolk, Willie Smith and Ruth Hurdle of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a son, Chester Hurdle of Hopkinsville, Ky.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in Bay Branch AME Zion Church, Belvidere, by the Rev. Otis G. Brothers and the Rev. G.V. Hollowell. Burial will be in Riddicks Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Belvidere. A wake will be held at Stallings Funeral Home Chapel, Hertford, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and the family will be at the home of the deceased. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
