JACK M. GEDDINGS

Jack McKnight Geddings, 75, of Holly Crescent, Walnut Island, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 1997, in Sentara Nursing Home, Barco.

He was a native of Anderson, S.C., a retired investigator with the Virginia State Corporation Commission, a member of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge No. 178, and a member of the American Legion Post No. 288, Coinjock. He was a Baptist. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the son of the late Graham L. and Thelma Lorraine McLeod Geddings and the husband of Evelyn V. Harris Geddings of the home.

Survivors include two sons, Jack Leroy Geddings of Lawrence, Kansas, and John Wilton Geddings of Chesapeake; four sisters, Mildred Whitworth of Anderson, S.C., Mary Ruth Black and Jimmie Joe Young, both of Lugoff, S.C., and Nell Armstrong of New Ellington, S.C.; a brother, Billy R. Geddings of Dalzell, S.C.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Graham L. Geddings Jr., and a grandson, John W. Geddings Jr.

A graveside service with military honors by American Legion No. 288, Coinjock, and with Masonic rites will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Twiford's Northside Chapel, Elizabeth City, from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion No. 288, Coinjock, N.C. 27923. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
