Irma Chesson Nye, 81, departed this life Sept. 4, 1997, at a local hospital. Born in South Norfolk, she was much loved throughout her life by all who knew her.
Irma was the widow of Tener B. Nye and had retired from the Retail Merchants Association. For 50 years, she was an active member of Coleman Place Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Leatrice Vinson and her husband, Donald, and Caroline Nye Wade and her husband, Bill; granddaughters, Diane Vinson Cayton, Deborah Wade and Melissa Wade; grandsons, William and Matthew Wade; a great-grandson, Michael Cayton; an aunt, Agnes Kilgore; and several nieces and nephews and many good friends and neighbors. She will be greatly missed by all.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Kellum Funeral Home, Pleasant Hall Chapel, with burial to follow in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Nye residence on 6036 Airway Lane, Norfolk. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
