Robert L. Harrell Sr., 76, of the 2400 block of Smith Ave., died Sept. 7, 1997.
Mr. Harrell was born in South Norfolk and was a member of South Norfolk Congregational Christian Church. He had retired as a sheet metal mechanic from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Stafford of Chesapeake and Susan Goldin of Norfolk; two sons, R. Wayne Harrell and Stephen R. Harrell, both of Chesapeake; two sisters, Mae Chappell and Betty Pierce, both of Chesapeake; two brothers, Sidney E. Harrell of Virginia Beach and Gene A. Harrell of Portsmouth; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Robert L. Harrell Jr.
A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Amos Eby. Burial will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and will also be at 1532 Benefit Road, Chesapeake.
