DRIVER OF CAR, APPARENTLY STRICKEN, DIES IN WRECK

A 73-year-old man died Tuesday afternoon after he apparently suffered a heart attack and the car he was driving hit another vehicle and a utility pole, police said.

A female passenger in the car was injured, but her injuries were not life-threatening, police said. Police did not identify the man because his relatives had not been notified.

The crash occurred at about 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Weston Avenue and North Main Street. The man was headed east on Weston when he apparently suffered the attack as he neared a stop sign.

As his car started across Main Street, it struck the bumper of a van headed south on Main. The car then smashed into the utility pole, causing the pole to hit a telephone junction box.

No one else was injured in the accident. Both of the victims were taken to Obici Hospital. KEYWORDS: ACCIDENT TRAFFIC FATALITY INJURIES
