Vernon Wayne Cowper, 51, of Route 1, died Sept. 9, 1997, in Roanoke Chowan Hospital.
A native of Gates County, he was a member of Eure Christian Church and a farmer. He was the son of Dorothy Minton Cowper and the late Riddick Cowper.
Survivors include three sons, Travis Wayne Cowper of Gates, Vance Riddick Cowper, and his wife, Laurie, of Springfield, Va., Christian Wells Cowper of Lakeridge, Va.; and a foster sister, Cheryl Joyner of Tampa, Fla.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Friday in Eure Christian Church by the Rev. Wayne Gardner. Burial will be in Gatesville Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Harrell Funeral Home, Gatesville, and all other times at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Cowper. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
