Annie Lee Willingham, 81, of the 2800 block of Vincent Ave. passed away quietly and gently into eternal life on Sunday morning, Sept. 14, 1997, in the peacefulness of her home as she prepared for church.
She was a native of Halifax County, N.C., and the daughter of the late Columbus and Missouri Howard and the widow of Kitch Willingham. She was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church and had been active in many phases of the church, including the deaconess board on which she served as vice president, past president of No. 2 Usher Board, the Strivers Club and a member of the Floral Club. She was retired from the Norfolk Public Schools after 22 years at Ingleside Elementary School.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her daughter, Jacqueline W. Butler, and her fiancee, Nathaniel Everett; a son, James Robinson; six grandchildren, Andre D. Butler, Stephanie D. Butler, Lamont Willingham, Demetrius Willingham, Michelle Willingham, Tobias Lofton; a great-granddaughter, Destini T. Wiggins. She was predeceased by two sons, James Purnell and David L. Willingham.
Viewing will be Wednesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Riddick Funeral Service. The body will be placed in church at 10 a.m. Thursday. A funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday in Bethel Baptist Church, 1234 Reservoir Ave., by the Rev. Jesse E. Arrington. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
