JESSIE B. MASON

Dr. Jessie B. Mason departed this life Friday Sept. 12, 1997, at her home.

She was the daughter of Albert Britt and Nettie Parker Britt. Jessie was a devoted Christian having given her life to Christ at an early age, at the Macedonia A.M.E. Church, Suffolk. Upon moving to Washington, D.C., she joined Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, there, and faithfully served for more than 40 years. She served in key church positions which includes being a member of the board of trustees, chairman of the Restoration Committee, Hospitality Club and Sunday School. Dr. Mason received her bachelor of science degree in education from West Virginia State College, her master of science degree in special education from the University of Maryland and her doctorate from Nova University in Florida. She was employed by the Prince George's County Board of Education for more than 37 years.

Dr. Mason leaves to cherish her memories a daughter, Inga B. Mason of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Eva Stratton, Marie Myrick of Suffolk; a brother, Hugh A. Britt of Philadelphia; several nephews and nieces; and a host of relatives and loyal friends.

A funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Madeconia A.M.E. Church by the Rev. Johnson, pastor. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk. Crocker Funeral Home is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
