ELMER R. PAITSEL SR.

Elmer Roscoe Paitsel Sr., 76, of the 1800 block of Ames Circle West died Sept. 20, 1997, in a local hospital.

A native of Selma, Va., he had retired from Norfolk Naval Shipyard Shipfitter Foreman Shop 11 and was a member of Portsmouth Assembly of God. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the widower of Emma Ruth Paitsel.

Survivors include a daughter, Tima Dickinsheet of Marion, Ind.; three sons, Elmer R. Paitsel Jr. of Chesapeake, Merle L. Paitsel of Eure, N.C., and Duane V. Paitsel of Chesapeake; three sisters, Christine Haney of Toledo, Ohio, Stella Boone of Clifton Forge, Va., and Betty June Nicely of Wilson, Va.; four brothers, Earl Paitsel of Selma, Va., Carl Paitsel of Mineral, Va., Charles Paitsel of Chesapeake, and Edward Paitsel Jr. of Mt. Pilot, N.C.; and four grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Portsmouth Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Homer Peterson. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Portsmouth Assembly of God Church. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
