A story Sunday about cities banking on golf courses as investment

tools erroneously reported that the city of Chesapeake spent

$500,000 in capital improvements for the Chesapeake Golf Club

course, formerly known as Seven Springs. American Golf Corp., which

manages the course, spent the money for the improvements.

A Times-Dispatch poll of the governor's race should have shown

James S. Gilmore III with 39 percent of the tally and Donald S.

Beyer Jr. with 35 percent. Those numbers were reversed in a Decision

'97 column Sunday. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 5

percentage points.

A chart on Wednesday's Public Life page contained incorrect

figures for the Chesapeake Circuit Court. The court, with four

judges and two assistants, has an annual budget of $175,963, about

92 cents per person in Chesaspeake. The Circuit Court clerk's office

has a staff of 29, including the clerk.
