Joe Richard Stephens Sr., 67, of the 3000 block of Cornland Road died Wednesday, Sept. 24, 1997, at his residence.
Born in Hickory, N.C., Mr. Stephens had retired after 30 years as an electronics technician with the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, the South Norfolk Masonic Lodge and the Order of the Eastern Star. He attended the Church of the Nazarene, Chesapeake.
Survivors include his wife, Emily Lillie Stephens; a daughter, Rosa Jane James of Elizabeth City, N.C.; three sons, William Stephens of Greensboro, N.C., Joe Stephens Jr. and Gerald ``Jerry'' Stephens, both of Chesapeake; and one grandson, Brian James.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Oman Funeral Home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
