Loma Adele Bownas, 80, died Sept. 24, 1997, in a local hospital.
Retired from the U.S. Postal Service, she was the former postmistress at the Oceana station. She was a loving mother, sister and grandmother who will be deeply missed.
Survivors include a son, Samuel W. Bownas and his wife, Marybelle, of Maryville, Tenn.; three daughters, Judith L. Tipton and her husband, J.C., of Virginia Beach, Catherine B. Myers of Virginia Beach, and Gloria L. Bownas and her husband, Ned Anderson, of Chesapeake; two brothers, William Turk of Missouri and Dan Turk of Washington state; a sister, Gloria Root of Michigan; six grandchildren, Christine Miller, George R. Callender III, Jonathan Bownas, Jennifer Bownas, Benjamin Bownas and Robert Myers; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Kellum Funeral Home, Bonney Road Chapel, is handling arrangement. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
