GEORGE R. WILLIAMS JR.

George Ray Williams Jr., 79, died Sept. 27, 1997, in a Virginia Beach hospital.

Mr. Williams was born in Wayne County, N.C., and had retired from R.E.A. Express as a manager. He was a member of Virginia Beach Christian Church and was on the founding board of the Samaritan House. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma S. Williams; a daughter and her husband, Katherine L. and Bill Scott of Virginia Beach; and two grandchildren, Rob Scott and David Scott, both of Virginia Beach.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Willowdale Cemetery, Goldsboro, N.C., by the Rev. William E. Austin. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 5 in Virginia Beach Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davis Corner Rescue Squad.
