Ralph Willard Thompson Sr., 73, of the 3700 block of Wayne Crescent died Sept. 29, 1997, in a local hospital.
Born in Bluefield, W.Va., he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and an employee of Ames & Webb Inc.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. Thompson; two daughters, Cathy M. Sox and her husband, David, of Fair Oaks, Calif., and Nancy T. Maule and her husband, James, of Virginia Beach; two sons, Ralph W. Thompson Jr. of Sunrise, Fla., and Tommy D. Thompson of Virginia Beach; two brothers, Garland Thompson of Watson, Ark. and R. Sidney Thompson of Bedford, Va.; a sister, Virgie Peters of Pace, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Brad Sox, David Sox, Sharon Kitchin and her husband, Todd, Amy Maule, Sara Sox, Kari Maule, Erika Sox, Jason Thompson, Jessica Thompson, and Matthew Maule; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Kitchin, Zachary Maule, Aryk Sox.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Warren Chapman. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
