POLICE IDENTIFY BODY OF MAN FOUND IN RIVER

Police have identified the body of a man found Monday morning in the Elizabeth River but are withholding his identity until family members are notified.

A preliminary investigation indicates drowning was the cause of death.

But the investigation is continuing, and police are treating the case as a suspicious death, according to police spokeswoman Amber Whittaker.

The body was discovered by crabbers Monday morning between the Churchland and West Norfolk bridges.
