EARLENA B. HARRIS

Earlena B. ``Baby Doll'' Harris of the 1700 block of Parker Ave. died Sept. 30, 1997, in Portsmouth General Hospital.

Born in Birmingham, Ala., she was the widow of Charles H. Harris and a retired teacher of the Norfolk City Public School System. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, Sojourner Truth Bible Class, the Women's Service League, the Portsmouth Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and Daughters of Isis, No. 23.

Survivors include three sisters, Minnie B. East of Washington, D.C., Helen B. Jackson of Atlanta, Theresa B. Harris of Birmingham, Ala.; three brothers, Roy M. Balton of Washington, D.C., Kirkwood R. Balton and Raymond B. Balton, both of Birmingham; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends including a very special friend, Alice Mitchell.

A funeral will be conducted at noon Friday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, by the Rev. Ben A. Beamer Sr. Burial will be in Roosevelt Memorial Park, Chesapeake. Viewing at Corprew Funeral Home will begin at noon today. The body will be taken to the church at 10 a.m. Friday. The sorority service will begin at 7 p.m. today.
