Donald McPherrin Weller Jr. died Saturday, Sept. 13, 1997.
He was the son of the late Major General Donald M. Weller, U.S. Marine Corps, of Hartford, Conn., and the late Frances Faison Jordan of Portsmouth. He was born in Norfolk on Jan. 24, 1939, and attended the Garrison Williams School.
He was a graduate of St. George's School of Newport, R.I., and of the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, where he attained the rank of cadet captain. Upon graduation from VMI in 1961, he entered the Marine Corps as a second lieutenant. After duty in Hawaii and San Francisco, he left the service as a captain. Since that time, he had worked in institutional investment management in San Francisco and Seattle. At his death, he was the president of Washington Capital Management Inc.
He is survived by his two children, Donald III and Samantha of Seattle, and by his sister, Mary Calvert Brodbeck of Paris, France. He was the nephew of Mrs. Matthew C. Horner and Mrs. Carson W. Cross of Norfolk and the cousin of Mrs. Mary Tom Kyrus and Mrs. John O'Keefe of Norfolk, Carson W. Cross of Virginia Beach, and Mrs. Thomas A. Saunders III of New York and Charlottesville.
A memorial service was held Sept. 18, 1997, in Seattle. Final burial arrangements are yet to be determined. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
