LOCAL SCENE

HAMPTON ROADS

PROMOTIONS AT ACCOUNTING FIRM: Failes & Associates promoted Paula Renager, Tina Culpepper, Brian Carson, Dorothy Sampson and Jason Hayek to senior accountants. Also promoted were Barbara L. Smith to manager; Leila Ross to employment benefits specialist manager; Jill Smith to data processing manager and Chris Wilson to firm administrator. Renee Pendleton joins the firm as a manager. Also, Herbert A. Levin retired from the firm as a partner last week.

RALPH ELECTED TO BOARD; CREEKMORE PROMOTED: Bobby L. Ralph was elected to the board of directors of the Bank of Hampton Roads. Ralph, the social services director for the city of Suffolk, also serves as an advisory board member for the bank's Suffolk office. And Jeffrey S. Creekmore was promoted to accounting officer at the bank. He has been with the bank since 1994.

CHESAPEAKE

MOODY ELECTED CHAIRMAN: Attorney Eric O. Moody was elected chairman of the Chesapeake Industrial Development Authority. Moody is the senior partner at Eric O. Moody and Associates, which has offices in Portsmouth and Chesapeake.

SUFFOLK

SIZEMORE NAMED FIELD TECHNICIAN: Tidewater Information Group, an on-site service provider for networks and computer systems, named Kevan M. Sizemore a field technician. He previously worked for Isle of Wight County as a network assistant.

VIRGINIA BEACH

SCHMADER PROMOTED: Wally Schmader was promoted to divisional vice president for Transworld Systems, a provider of accounts receivable and bad check collection services. He has been with the company for 11 years.

ELLSTROM NAMED SENIOR COPYWRITER: Barker Campbell Farley & Mansfield, Advertising, Public Relations and Promotions promoted Brian Ellstrom from copywriter to senior copywriter.

VIRGINIA

SAVAGE AND TYSON NAMED CO-DIRECTORS: G. Jacob Savage III and William L. Tyson, managing directors and senior vice presidents of Scott & Stringfellow, were named co-directors of the firm's corporate finance department in Richmond.
