JAMES R. TRAVERS

James Roper Travers, 83, of the 800 block of Clinton St., died Oct. 5, 1997, in Chesapeake.

Mr. Travers, a Baptist, was born in Berkley, Va., and was the widower of Theresa Travers. He had retired as superintendent of the Rigger Shop, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and was an Army veteran.

Survivors include two daughters, Alice Marcum and her husband, Billy of Chesapeake and Ann Tatem and her husband, Marshall of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will be at 964 Sunnyside Drive, Virginia Beach. Francis A. Gay Funeral Home, South Norfolk Chapel, Chesapeake, is in charge. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
