GOLFER OF THE WEEK: KATIE HAVER / VIRGINIA BEACH

A native of San Diego, Haver moved here in 1984 and attended First Colonial High School. She has been playing three years.

Age: 26

Occupation: Clinical therapist for the city of Portsmouth

Handicap: 25

Favorite course: Red Wing, because of the scenery and it has a good pace of play.

Lowest score: 94 at Waterway Hills in Myrtle Beach. This was the first time I played 36 holes in one day.

Clubs: Big Bertha driver; Taylor Made Tour Spoon 3-wood; Dunlop DDH-II irons; generic putter.

Shot I dread the most: Any shot within 30 yards of the green. I am still trying to learn not to blade the ball.

My dream foursome: Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, my father John Haver and me.

Biggest golf gripe: When while waiting for the foursome in front, the foursome behind hits their ball into us, as if we were holding them up.

Most memorable shot: On the par 3, No. 11 at the Chesapeake Golf Course, hitting a ball over water and landing 3 feet from the pin and then sinking it for a birdie.

Funniest thing I ever saw on the course: When my dad hit into the woods and it took him about five shots to get back out of them. The laughter came with the continued sounds of the ball hitting the trees. My dad didn't find as much humor in it as I did.
