CHARLIE M. JOHNSON

Charlie M. Johnson, 84, passed away Oct. 7, 1997, at Sentara Nursing Home, Barco.

Mr. Johnson was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Nags Head, son of the late Rudolph and Josephine Wise Johnson. He was the former first assistant fire chief of the Nags Head Fire Department and was a retired electrician. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Johnson.

Survivors include his loving family; daughter, Sherry J. Miley and her husband, John, of Nags Head; a son, Charles W. Johnson and his wife, Pearl, of Nags Head; four grandchildren, Scott McPherson, Tony Schaecher, Teri Beck and Tami Conley; and six great-grandchildren.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at his home, 4009 Soundside Road, Nags Head. Burial will follow in Dolly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellsmere Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23513.
