Evelyn Caddy Eure Jones, 78, of Route 1, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 1997, in Skilled Nursing Facility of Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

Mrs. Jones was born in Perquimans County, the daughter of the late John and Mrs. Mary Spruill Caddy. She had retired from the meat department of the former Colonial Store. A member of Hertford Baptist Church, she was a past member of Berea Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.B. Eure.

Survivors include her husband, John C. Jones; a daughter, Joyce Eure Ward and her husband, Earl, of Hobbsville; a sister, Gertrude Miller of Belhaven; a stepdaughter, Ellen Gibbs of Columbia; a stepson, Leon Jones of Roxboro; and three stepgrandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Berea Church of Christ, New Hope, by the Rev. Thomas Biggs and her nephew, the Rev. Norman Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, and following the service in the social hall of Berea Church. All other times the family will be assembled at the home of her daughter, Route 1, Hobbsville. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
