James Edward Kane Sr., 71, of the 4000 block of Wyndybrow Drive died Oct. 6, 1997, in his residence.
A native of Philadelphia, Pa., he had retired as a radio operator for Military Sea Lift Command, Norfolk, after 27 years. He was the widower of Patricia J. Kane.
Survivors include three daughters, Cathleen J. Spendolini of Virginia, Patricia J. Dunham of Virginia Beach and Christine D. Boone of Corapeake, N.C.; a son, James E. Kane Jr. of Sanford, N.C.; three sisters, Mary Law and Kathleen Terwilliger, both of Marmora, N.J., and Beatrice Cunningham of Somerspoint, N.J.; a brother, Joseph Kane of Florida; and nine grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in Good Shepherd Baptist Church Cemetery, Cameron, N.C., by the Rev. George Brice. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
