Teen charged after 6 others are hurt during police chase
A 17-year-old Portsmouth resident has been charged in connection with a Monday night police chase that resulted in injuries to six other people.
The chase of a stolen auto started about 7 p.m. and took police through the Midtown Tunnel twice. Two police cars collided, and the suspect's hit another car inside the tunnel.
Police would not release the name of the teen-ager because he is a juvenile.
He was charged with grand larceny of an auto, felony attempt to elude police and driving with a suspended license.
The police department is continuing the investigation, and additional charges are pending.
Four police officers, a Virginia Department of Transportation worker, another motorist and the suspect were treated at area hospitals and released.
Highland-Biltmore man is robbed at his home
A 58-year-old Highland-Biltmore man was robbed at gunpoint about 9 p.m. Monday after he opened his door to three men who asked to use his phone.
Police did not release the name of the victim, who lives in the 100 block of Beacon Road.
One of the robbers pushed past the man into the house, a second held the gun on him, and a third waited outside, the victim reported.
He described the robbers as white men, possibly in their 20s.

Police release photograph of suspect in bank robbery
Police have released a photograph of the suspect in a bank robbery that occurred Monday morning.
The man entered Life Savings Bank at 6201 Portsmouth Blvd. shortly after 10 a.m., indicated he had a gun and demanded money.
He fled toward Hodges Ferry Apartments. He was described as a black male in his 30s to 40s, 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a brown hat and a jacket resembling a woman's jogging jacket in teal, pink, white and black.
