CHRISTINE J. MEADE

Christine J. Meade, 77, of the 600 block of Pine Tree Drive died Sunday Oct. 12, 1997, at a local hospital.

Mrs. Meade was born in Chesapeake and had lived in Norfolk prior to moving here in 1960. She had worked in various branches of the U.S. government, last working as a secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers, Norfolk, for 30 years, and retiring in 1986. She graduated from Deep Creek High School, Deep Creek, in 1937 and attended Norfolk Business School. She was a member of Old Donation Episcopal Church, Virginia Beach.

Mrs. Meade was predeceased by her husband, Frank O. Meade, who passed away in 1991, and her daughter, Sandra H. Meade, who passed away in 1968. Surviving are a brother, John G. Joyce of Cocoa, Fla., and a twin brother, Vernon A. ``Boob'' Joyce of Chesapeake; two sisters, Jewel Joyce of San Diego, Calif., Hope J. Hartmann of Stockholm, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Old Donation Episcopal Church by the Rev. C. Thomas Holiday. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial donations may be made to Old Donation Episcopal Church, 4449 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. 23455. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
