Media General Inc. said Monday it will acquire the Herald Courier in Bristol, Va., and two affiliated weekly newspapers for about $91.2 million.
Media General, parent company of The Richmond Times-Dispatch, said the acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 1998.
Included in the sale are the Bristol Courier, with a daily circulation of 43,800; the Washington County News of Virginia, with a weekly circulation of 3,300; and the Sullivan County News of Tennessee, with a weekly circulation of 2,600.
