James Porter O'Briant Jr., 79, died Oct. 5, 1997.
Born in Morresville, N.C., he was the widower of Lorrainne W. O'Briant and a member of Hilton Baptist Church, Newport News. He retired 18 years ago as an electrical engineer technician for NASA after 32 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Martha O. Maurer of Avinio, Italy; a son, James P. O'Briant III of Windsor, Va; two sisters, Mabel O. Jones of Daytona Beach, Fla., Ruby O. Parks of Pleasant Gardens, N.C.; grandchildren, Carol Blanton, Amy and Rebecca O'Briant, James Maurer; and two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Justin Campbell.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hilton Baptist Church, Newport News, by the Rev. Jack Lawson. Burial will be in Peninsula Memorial Park. Riverside Funeral Home is handling arrangements. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
