JAMES T. WOMACK JR.

James Thomas Womack Jr., 70, died Oct. 8, 1997, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 28, 1927, in Norfolk. He had served for more than 40 years in the ministry: Bethel Church in Staunton, Va.; First Presbyterian in Lincolnton, N.C.; Shandon Presbyterian in Columbia, S.C. He also served as an executive with the Office of Review and Evaluation for the PCUS General Assembly and at his retirement was director for Special Resources for the Development Office at Union Theological Seminary.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Walker Womack; a son, James T. Womack III of Nashville, Tenn.; three daughters, Anne W. Evans, Sarah W. Parham, Jeanne W. McGinnis, all of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters, Jean Woods of Norfolk, Anne Phelps of Virginia Beach; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Oct. 11 at First Presbyterian Church, Hickory. Memorials may be made to the Library Fund at Union Theological Seminary, 3401 Brook Road, Richmond, Va. 23227. KEYWORDS: DEATH OBITUARY
